We're living in an age of Information Technology. Electronics is at the very heart of the
Information and Computer age. Electronics has made deep impacts in several vital areas
such as ICT, Entertainment, Agriculture, Medical diagnosis and treatment,
Transportation, Air and space travel etc
It is sometimes unbelievable, how many electronic gadgets we carry these days such as
digital wristwatches, calculators, mobile phones, digital cameras, video cameras and so
on. There are even other electronic devices we now operate in our homes and offices.
In short, the economic developments of several countries are directly linked to their
technological strengths in form of designs, manufacturing and services of various
electronic devices. So, apart from learning how to read and write, electronics has
become an essential part of a modern society. We therefore need to develop a very
good knowledge of electronics in our country so as to favorably compete with other
developed nations.
Thus, Electronics has become a "Basic Science". Just as we teach Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and Mathematics in our Primary and Secondary schools. It is high time we
started teaching our children electronics as a separate subject by itself as this will be
important for indigenous technological literacy and development. If one wants to gain a
good understanding of electronics, he or she should have a hands-on skill on how to
build circuits and solve problems with it.
EDUSOD Logistic Services has therefore organized BASIC ELECTRONICS AND PROJECT
MANUAL, for personal and instructional purposes. This manual will be useful for
acquiring basic practical knowledge of the characteristics of different electronic devices
and hands-on construction of various circuits. This book is focused on providing the
knowledge required to have a foundational understanding of electronics.
